Deep root water uptake does matter!

We proudly announce that the first publication within Isodrones has been accepted and published. The work is based on the data from the Namibia experiments and presents a combined framework using both natural abundances of soil water stable isotopes and labelling experiments in order to identify deep root water uptake. The coolest finding of that paper probably is that after an extremely dry rainy season soil water isotopes were effected up to 4 m depth. This shift of the isotope depth profile enabled us to identify that Acacia erioloba took up approx. 37% from deeper soil and/or groundwater. Hope you like the paper! You can find it here:
