Studies groundwater recharge using in situ water isotope methods

Alberto joined Isodrones in February 2019 as a master’s student to support the team’s first field campaign in Costa Rica. In the master’s thesis work, he did research on the partitioning of Evapotranspiration (transpiration and evaporation) using stable water isotope techniques for the whole of Costa Rica (the manuscript is currently under review). In 2020, ‘Albi’ joined Isodrones as a Ph.D. student. In his doctoral thesis, he will conduct research on isotope labeling techniques combined with in situ soil and plant water isotope measurements for estimating groundwater recharge in the dry parts of Honduras and Costa Rica. Alberto hase a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and Environment. His main interest in sustainable management of natural resources, especially water resources. In this regard, he continues his path after the master’s degree in Integrated Watershed Management at CATIE in Costa Rica. ‘Albi’ loves the nature, especially the mountainous landscapes and outdoor sports like rappel, canopy and paragliding. He also likes to travel. In the field and on the computer Alberto is an absolutely reliable and hard working person, for this reason we also call him ‘La maquina’! ;)
